for the hermès store in shanghai, dutch artist levi van veluw pays homage to the ongoing relationship between the french luxury fashion house and chinese heritage with dynamic window display depicting the journey of a horse. each panel reveals a moment in the animal’s journey frozen in time; in the first pane, the majestic creature — traditionally noted as a symbol of intelligence and warmth — hurriedly sets out from a french atelier, causing the interior items within to sail downward toward the floor from gravity’s pull; the second display sees him venturing across exotic lands, surrounded by the brush of leaves and trees; finally, the large horse arrives in china, carrying exquisite hermès  goods. with an intricate mastery of craftsmanship and attention to detail, levi has crafted all of the both small-scale and massive sculptures in the window display from wood veneer, rendering a warm-toned environment for the shanghai storefront.
